Make & Take Crafts:

Jordan Masters, macrame’ artist, will teach how to make a Macrame’ Pet Collar. Fees for this craft experience will cover our costs, pay the artist, and 50% of proceeds benefit The Cantu Foundation & San Diego Craft Collective. This craft will run from 10am-12pm so crafters have time to complete their collars before the event ends at 1pm.

Join in the fun and design your own personalized tote bag! Dog-themed Tote Bags are always useful. We like to call them Doggy Bags!  Fees for this make & take will cover our costs, and after that, proceeds will be split to benefit The Cantu Foundation & San Diego Craft Collective.

All ages will enjoy creating an image with our Dog-Themed String Art. Fees for this make & take will cover our costs, and after that, proceeds will be split to benefit The Cantu Foundation & San Diego Craft Collective.

ABOUT THE CANTU FOUNDATION

In 2020, The Cantu Foundation (TCF) emerged from the shared passion of its co-founders, Fatima and Jenna. Despite residing on opposite coasts, these two kindred spirits connected through social media, driven by their mutual desire to make a positive impact on the lives of dogs in need.

TCF derives its name and inspiration from Cantu, an extraordinary rescue pittie who embodied the spirit of resilience. Cantu’s unwavering determination to live his best life, despite facing challenges, serves as the cornerstone of their mission.

At TCF, the primary goal is to offer a second chance at life to dogs from Baja California and Southern California. They believe that every dog deserves a loving home and an opportunity for a brighter future.

Their approach is simple yet impactful. They operate as a fully foster-based rescue organization, sustained by the generosity of donations and the unwavering dedication of their foster families. When a dog enters TCF care, they receive not only shelter but also the love, attention, and rehabilitation necessary to thrive.

Their vision for the future is ambitious but heartfelt. They aspire to establish their very own facility in San Diego, a central hub for rescue operations. With this facility, they aim to streamline the process of saving dogs and expand their reach, ensuring more dogs find their forever homes.

ABOUT SAN DIEGO CRAFT COLLECTIVE

San Diego Craft Collective (SDCC) was launched in 2018 after a few woodworking colleagues recognized a void in San Diego’s creative community. They envisioned an educational venue where woodworking and other skilled crafts would be taught. It would be a community resource offering expert instruction and access to a high-quality craft center — for people who would otherwise not have the means to purchase tools or attend classes at a well-equipped facility.

Hands At Work … Minds At Play

Inspired by the Waldorf education model and the Sloyd Method, the founders created a safe and welcoming place where adults and children get back to basics and learn how to make arts and crafts with their own hands — a respite from society’s plastic, mass-produced, marketing-driven toys and objects. Here, families would enjoy healthy opportunities to enjoy quality time together.

SDCC’s mission is to play a vital role as an inclusive resource for the community by teaching craft and woodworking classes as a vehicle for self expression and personal growth. As an educational 501c3 nonprofit, we offer activities, workshops, scholarships, and fellowships centered around craft and creativity for individuals of all ages and backgrounds in a family friendly, eco-conscious environment.
